Best Amazon Purchases of the Year

Welcome to The 2024 Look Back week on wit & whimsy! All week long I will be featuring favorite discoveries and purchases of 2024. It’s fun for me to assess what purchases I made throughout the year and see what really stood out.

First up: my favorite Amazon purchases of the year. Last year I continued to put my Amazon Prime membership to good use and found some great items I’ve been using and wearing regularly.

Favorite Amazon Purchases of 2024

In 2024 I made the decision to move my Amazon recommendations largely over to my newsletter community in a (mostly) monthly series.

Read on to discover all my favorite Amazon purchases of last year and if you’re curious, don’t miss my My Favorite Amazon Purchases of 2023, My Favorite Amazon Purchases of 2022 and My Favorite Amazon Purchases of 2021.

1. The Pivot Year

I absolutely loved the addition of this book to my sacred morning routine. I read a page today and the author’s words are so great for reflection, for gratitude and for encouragement. I will carry on reading a page every morning this year without a doubt.

2. Apple Watch Band

Until I can decide on an Apple watch band I really like, I got these cheap ones and have been happy with how they’ve held up. The bottom buckle does scratch but you can’t see it under your wrist so that doesn’t bother me given the price tag.

3. Pajamas

A nice, inexpensive pair of pajamas that are soft.

4. One Piece Bathing Suit

My most worn swimsuit of 2024 by far. I couldn’t believe how flattering it was on when I got it. I got the size 8. I already bought another color. It was the one I packed on every trip and it washes really easily in a laundry bag.

5. Steamery Fabric Shaver

I swear by fabric shavers – things pill!! This one makes it so easy to de-fuzz your favorite sweaters, blankets, sheets or towels.

6. Sleep Mask

What a game changer of a sleep mask this is. I find it so much better than the popular silk ones because it has deep eye holes that help for better darkness (not to mention not messing up eye makeup during flights or naps!)

I bought two. One to have in my travel bag at all times so I am never without and one for use at home.

7. Blister Band Aids

I will never travel without these again. My friend gave me some after I broke a cardinal rule of wearing a new-ish pair of shoes in London and giving myself a major blister. These helped so, so much. They not only help cushion but also heal the blister. I came home and bought two boxes and stuffed them in all sorts of places for whenever a blister emergency strikes.

8. Bath Robe

Maybe my favorite Amazon find this year? I had hunted high and low for years for a lightweight, but nice feeling near-floor length bath robe and found it in this affordable one. My one complains is there is no sewn in hook to hang it but it still hangs ok regardless and you can’t beat the price. I have the M.

9. Kitsch Brush Cleaner

Probably my second best Amazon find of the year as it ensured I was regularly cleaning my hair brushes. The dual-ends make it so easy (and weirdly satisfying?) to do so. Can’t recommend this little tool enough.

10. Dishwasher Pods

I’ve actually used these for nearly five years but they finally became available on Amazon and I snatched up restocks every time they were on sale during Prime Day. They work better than any pod I’ve tried in the past.

11. Geometric Earrings

A great little earring that is lightweight, has Khaite-vibes and is so affordable that if you lose one you won’t worry (too) much.

12. Atomic Habits

I had bought this book years prior and finally read it last year and really resonated with so many of the points. The world has become overwhelming and our attention spans near-zero in so many ways. This book illustrates how to better set boundaries and put into practice habits that will improve your life.

13. Public Goods Dish Soap

Another product I’ve actually used for years and was so glad it was finally being sold on Amazon as I hated that the brand required a Membership on their site to order it. Now I can restock whenever. It works well, has no offensive scent and I love the minimalist packaging that allows for me to leave it out next to my sink without being an eyesore.

14. Tripod

This past year I set out to shoot more content myself instead of always having to rely on hiring others. My friend Carter is a talented photographer and she brought this to Europe on our trip last April. I saw how easy it was to master using, how lightweight it was and how great for travel so I came home and ordered it pronto. I went onto bring it on every trip and really was so happy I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to self-shoot with it in town more often.

15. Dirty Labs Laundry Booster

This is such a great little product. Two scoops into the laundry bin for sweaty workout clothes and you’ll be all the better for it – I promise.

And a few other items I bought and loved from Amazon this past year…

Reusable Cotton Pads

I love these little cotton pads for use with my favorite micellar water as a last cleansing step. Just throw them in the washer with your laundry after use. They come out looking like-new.

Crochet Coverup

What a find this was. It looked more designer but was so affordable and easy to put on and look stylish to head to the beach or pool.

Audible Membership

I absolutely loved listening to audiobooks last year – particularly during solo travel. And particularly memoirs! My Audible membership made that possible!

Silicone Phone Holder

As mentioned, last year I took on a lot more self-shooting and decided to lean into tools that would help me. This little suction cup that attaches to my iPhone case was perfect for capturing certain pieces of content I needed for vlogs or other projects. (I also got this funny contraption that has come in handy on more than one occasion!)

Exfoliating Shower Sheets

I love using one of these with a favorite body wash. They help slough off dead skin and don’t get as gross as loofahs. Plus you can throw them in the wash whenever you want.

AC Unit Noise Dampeners

In one of my most niche recommendations, last year I set out to finally quell the obnoxious noise that happens when my neighbor’s AC unit above mine drips onto mine and when it rains and creates a non-stop ping-ing noise. I had tried a variety of solutions and none had done the trick until I found these adhesive tiles. A few added to the top of my AC units and my sanity was cured. They’ve held up remarkably well. I haven’t had to replace them yet! They dampen the noise and hold up to wind.

. . .
